Jake Ziemann
   Inquire about this work.

Jake Ziemann’s work alludes to the transference of one boy’s identity to a grander, ubiquitous snapshot of what it means to be in proximity to the outdoors and domestic space in reference to the rural Midwest. Referencing childhood snapshots, he draws and paints imagery of hunting culture against rural domestic life as a way to suggest a disconnect - an allusion to an existence. Hovering between hunting machismo and domesticity - father and mother - he conjures up the uncanny, the eerie, and the peculiar, elevating seemingly banal scenes into the realm of mystery.

With a BA from Central College in Iowa and a BFA in painting from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Jake Ziemann is currently an MFA candidate at the California College of the Arts.
